This privacy policy explains how we collect, use and protect the information you provide through our website, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the French Data Protection Act.

Data we collect
When you use our site, we may collect the following data:
- Identity: first name, surname
- Contact details: email address, telephone number, postal address
- Stay details: preferred dates, number of guests, free-text message
Independently of anything you type, and like any web server, the server hosting this site automatically records in its technical logs:
- your IP address
- the type and version of your browser and your operating system
- the page viewed and, where applicable, the page that brought you to us
- the date and time of the visit
These logs are used solely to keep the site running and secure (detecting attacks, diagnosing faults). They are not used to identify you or to analyse your behaviour, and they are not cross-referenced with any other data.
Purposes of processing
Your personal data is collected and processed for the following purposes:
- Handling your booking or quotation enquiry
- Contacting you to confirm your stay
- Drawing up a holiday rental agreement
- Answering your questions and requests for information
- Meeting our legal and accounting obligations
Legal basis for processing
The processing of your data rests on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract: for the data needed for the booking and the stay
- Consent: for sending commercial information, where applicable
- Legal obligation: for retaining accounting and tax records
Retention periods
Your data is kept for the following periods:
- Enquiries that do not lead to a booking: 3 years from the last contact
- Guests who have stayed: 5 years after the end of the contractual relationship (tax obligations)
- Technical server logs (IP address, browser, page, date): 6 months, in line with the CNIL's recommendation on logging
- Messages received through the form: deleted from the forwarding service's mailbox as soon as they reach our inbox
Who receives your data
Your personal data is for the sole use of Maison Les Buis. It is never sold, rented or passed on to third parties for commercial purposes.
It may, however, be transmitted to:
- OVH SAS (2 rue Kellermann, 59100 Roubaix, France) — hosting of the site and storage of the technical logs described above. Servers located in the European Union.
- Web3Forms — the service that forwards the contents of the booking form to our mailbox. It therefore receives the information you enter (title, name, email address, telephone, dates of stay and message).
- Cloudflare — the home page loads an animation library from the cdnjs.cloudflare.com delivery network. That request passes your IP address to Cloudflare. No cookie is set and none of the information you enter is sent to them.
- Our accountant, as part of our accounting obligations
- The administrative or judicial authorities, upon formal request or where legally required
Apart from these recipients, no other company receives your data. This site has no analytics tool, no advertising network and no social media buttons, and the fonts are hosted on our own server, so displaying them triggers no connection to any third party.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access: to obtain a copy of the data concerning you
- Right to rectification: to have inaccurate data corrected
- Right to erasure: to request the deletion of your data
- Right to restriction of processing
- Right to object to the processing of your data
- Right to data portability
To exercise these rights, contact us via the booking form on the home page, or by post at the address given above.
If you believe your rights are not being respected, you may lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority: www.cnil.fr. You may also contact the supervisory authority in your own country of residence.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies. Nor does it use the other storage facilities of your browser (local storage, session storage). That is why no consent banner is shown to you: there is nothing to consent to.
Should we one day use an analytics tool or any other tracker, a consent banner would be put in place beforehand and this page would be updated before anything was set.
Links to other sites
Some pages link to sites we do not operate, in particular the Château de Maisonseule, the site of our provider Le P'tit Studio and that of the CNIL.
Following these links takes you off our site. We have no control over the data those sites collect or how they use it: their own privacy policy then applies, and we encourage you to read it. We pass on no information about you to them.
Data security
SAS Maisonseule implements all appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure the security and confidentiality of your personal data, and in particular to prevent it from being distorted or damaged, or accessed by unauthorised third parties.
Language of this policy
This page is an English translation provided for the convenience of our guests. Only the French version has legal force. In the event of any discrepancy between the two, the French text prevails.
Changes
This privacy policy may change over time. Any change will be published on this page together with the date of the update. We invite you to check it from time to time.
